Book a Consultation

Schedule time to discuss a potential federal civil-rights matter.

Use this page to request a scheduled consultation or screening call with Jump Start Legal Justice Center. Consultations focus on situations where government actors may have treated an individual or organization differently because of what they believe, what they say, or who they are, and where federal constitutional or civil-rights protections may be involved.

Choose a Time That Works For You

The online scheduling tool below shows available time slots for initial consultations or screening calls. All times are displayed in your local time zone. If you do not see a time that works, you can also use the Contact page to describe your situation.

  • Consultation length: 30 or 60 minutes, depending on configuration

What To Expect From A Consultation

An initial consultation is an opportunity to share the core facts of your situation and receive a preliminary assessment of whether it appears to involve federal constitutional or civil-rights issues that fit this firm’s focus.

During the consultation, we may:

  • Clarify the timeline and key events

  • Identify which government actors or entities are involved

  • Discuss whether federal or state law, or both, may be implicated

  • Explain general legal frameworks that could apply

  • Outline possible categories of next steps, where appropriate

Consultations are not ongoing legal advice. They are an initial step to determine whether full representation may be appropriate and to help you understand possible paths and limits.

When This Firm May Not Be The Right Fit

Jump Start Legal Justice Center focuses on federal constitutional and civil-rights litigation. Some matters, while serious, may fall outside that scope. For example, disputes that involve only private parties with no government involvement, purely state law issues without a realistic federal component, or matters in jurisdictions where admission is not feasible may not be a fit.

If it becomes clear that your situation is outside the firm’s focus or capacity, we will let you know. When possible, we may suggest other resources for you to consider, although we cannot guarantee referrals.

Deadlines And Time Sensitive Matters

Civil-rights and constitutional claims often involve strict deadlines. Booking a consultation on this page does not stop or extend any legal deadlines.

  • Court and agency deadlines continue to run even if you have requested a consultation

  • You are responsible for preserving your rights and meeting any filing deadlines

  • If you face an imminent deadline, active court date, or immediate risk of harm, you should seek assistance through all available channels and not rely only on this online booking form

If you are unsure whether you have an approaching deadline, raise that during the consultation request and in the consultation itself.

Location And Format Of Consultations

Most consultations are conducted by phone or secure video. In person meetings may be available in the Dallas area in limited circumstances.

  • Attorney licensed in Texas. Many matters involve federal courts in Texas and other states, subject to admission rules and conflict checks.

  • Virtual consultations may be available for federal matters arising outside Texas.

Important Disclaimers

Scheduling or attending a consultation does not create an attorney client relationship. An attorney client relationship is formed only if both you and the firm agree to such a relationship and sign a written fee agreement.

  • Consultations are for initial assessment and general information

  • No outcome can be guaranteed for any matter

  • Past results in other cases do not predict results in your situation

  • Information shared is treated with care, but electronic communication carries inherent risks

If you have questions about the scope or cost of a consultation, please ask before the session begins.
